Hero Tribute

Listening: Kill Hannah – Until There’s Nothing Left of Us album

Today’s Prompt: Find a poem you like.  Take the last line of that poem and use it to start your own.

The poem I have chosen is Resume by Dorothy Parker:

Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren’t lawful;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful;
You might as well live.

And now, mine:

You might as well live.
Each new year
Is shorter than the last.
Each new day
Brings pain in its worst
Laughter in its best.
Friendships wax and wane.
Passion fails as quickly
As it flared.
Morning sun turns to twilight.
Dawn to dusk.
Youth to age.
You might as well live
As if tomorrow never comes.
